Thank you for using Malcure. Invalid scan response means the plugin was unable to scan the file. If the files are readable by wordpress, then it’s not a permission issue.
This failure could be due to several other reasons like server load, server slowness etc. In case of a failure, Malcure attempts to run a second iteration of scan one file at a time, automatically. So it’s probably server load or the file permissions / contents.

Definitions are continuously updated because malware changes everyday. And we can’t release a new version of the plugin every few hours just to bundle the definitions. So you need to update the definitions if you want to find the infections.
Thank you for using our plugin. I was able to visit that page without any issue. It’s highly unlikely that any plugin would cause any issues after removal unless it’s modified some files which still try to run piece(s) or code.
We did try to test your URL on Gtmetrix and found a TTFB of around 5 seconds which is slightly higher but not unusual.
