In reply to: [BuddyPress Like] Like invalidates Privacy in GroupsHi Darren, I was wondering if you could replicate this and if so if you had any ideas for how to fix it.
Thanks.
@tobyhawkins – dude, thanks, this was driving me a little crazy.

In reply to: [Buddypress Xprofile Custom Fields Type] widgetsApologies for jumping in the thread, but I too would like to see the ability to use xprofile custom fields in a shortcode.
Unless I misunderstood the OP question, my use case would be to place the widgets in a page (via Widgets on Pages or Widget Insert – or directly with your plugin if that option would exist) which would allow us to collect xprofile field data on other pages besides the Registration or Profile page.
I’m not sure if this is even possible, but if this option already exists somehow, and I just don’t realize how to do it, please let me know. 🙂
Thanks.
Nice job on 1.3.4. This update resolves the issue posted above. There is a new links conflict, I’ll post about that separately. Glad to see you active again. Thanks.
Apologies for this being unrelated to the OP issue, but I just wanted to say ‘thank you’ to @freiwerk for the code referenced above in /ticket/2191. I have been looking for literally days trying to find a way or workaround to get group subforums to post to the respective Group Activity stream.
I just needed to ask Google the question in a different way. 🙂
Note: I would agree with the sentiment that it’s a shame that this excellent feature is not officially supported.
Thanks!
Hey Michael,
Circling back around to update this. Further testing of 4.2.5 has gone fine. Only issues are those previously referenced (e.g. member widget, pre-moderated registration in Stream, etc…)
I saw a reference to 4.3 somewhere… then I went and looked at github and saw a 4.2.6 too (that dealt with b, above) – cool. Just to clarify from that githib issue info; The ‘prevent xyz has registered activity stream message’ – would it ultimately pass that information to the Activity Stream *only once Approved*?
Any idea when 4.2.6 will drop?
Thanks.

In reply to: [BP xProfile WordPress User Sync] Could not updateThis has been interesting…
So in “wp_bp_xprofile_data” there are no other field id’s except “1” which looks to be structured as “first_name last_name” (NOT username or nickname).
I also deleted all of the First Name Last Name instances in “wp_bp_xprofile_fields” (there were about 15 of each).
After doing that, I tried to reactivate the plugin, and got the fatal error again. Interestingly, back in “wp_bp_xprofile_fields” 5 more of each First Name and Last Name were created. (Haste makes waste, I should listen better.)
This time, I deleted all but one of each, and modified the id’s to equal those which I pulled from wpusermeta.
Then I went and *added* that “bp_xp_wp_sync_options_store” (I had misread that the first couple times I read this).
Again, I errored in that the plugin could not sync these fields because they already existed (so I went back in again and deleted all of the f_n l_n instances). (Note: I should really listen better, deja vu.)
Voila, it worked. I was sweating bb’s the entire time – and this was on a clone dev db. I can not even imagine doing this on our real live site. haha.
One final note, after this entire process, we only had two users listed as ‘members’ in BP (there were about 35 ‘users’ on the dev site). Since this is a dev clone, I don’t even recall for absolute certain that those others were members before this issue started. I’m *pretty sure* they were, but wouldn’t swear on it.
In each case, once I logged in as a specific user, they then became added as a member. Is this a known issue?
It’s unfortunate that the deactivation of the plugin creates all these steps, but I understand it’s one of those things that comes with the territory.
Thanks again for all your help with this, it’s been interesting.
Hey meg@info,
I’m glad you’re still around. 🙂
As I mentioned in my earlier post, I had already done what was referenced in your link, and had actually increased WP Memory to 256MB. The issue remained until I deactivated the plugin.
The error:
“Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 7680 bytes) in /URL/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-core/bp-core-functions.php(138) : runtime-created function on line 1”
remains, and is on the page after the user submits “Post Update’No error shows on the other users (non-sender) pages and the update comes through (+ Load newest) as expected.
Once the original sender (manually) refreshes their page, the error message goes away.
And again, once the BPAP plugin is deactivated, posting does not generate the error.
Let me know if I can help in any further testing.
I look forward to your upcoming release.

In reply to: [BP xProfile WordPress User Sync] Could not updateHi @christian,
Thanks for your timely reply. OK, so swimming in the deep end for me, but here goes 🙂
Found the ID’s, they were First 37 and Last 38.
Then I found ‘bp_xp_wp_sync_options’ (but not …_store ?), and in it was Option Value:
a:2:{s:19:”first_name_field_id”;s:2:”37″;s:18:”last_name_field_id”;s:2:”38″;}
which seems to say that it already has the correct ID’s?
The plugin is currently deactivated, as it won’t activate, throwing that fatal error.
Thanks for any additional guidance.
If they’re not approved, it’d be great to exclude them from everywhere but their own profile.
I am seeing new registrations, where unapproved members are listed in both the BPRO moderated area and the ‘Pending’ area of wp-admin users. I wish they didn’t even go into users until *after* they were moderated.
I’m not sure if it’s related, but unmoderated users, even though they can’t post in the recent update-in-progress, they are still shown as “xxx became a registered user” in the BP Activity Stream – wish that didn’t happen as some – shall we say “creative” – names would be populated in that stream… no bueno.
Let me know what else I can do to help test.
Thanks!
After way too many hours with both theme and plugin conflicts, it simply comes down to this: BPAP does not work in the Activity Stream ‘Whats up’ box with BP 2.2.1.
I have it working again after reverting back to BP 2.1.1 (of course, as luck would have it, my theme update does not work completely with BP 2.1.1).
Pick your poison. Sheesh.
I just wish @megainfo would let someone know if they had any intention to update the plugin.
Make it a paid plugin, if needed. I’d just like it back.
Thanks.
In case anyone out there smarter than me (big numbers there) 🙂 wants to dig into this, here’s something of interest:
For me, posting from the ‘What’s new’ box to the main “My Profile” is broken, no matter which Privacy I choose.
HOWEVER, posting to any Group from that same box, or on any Group page directly, WORKS, without the error.
Make any sense? Any thoughts?
I would agree, taking care of their plugins is not really your gig. That’s why I mentioned as such.
I do think these ‘issues’ are minor, really. Especially the invite one. Not too worried about the spam additions if its coming from an already approved user. And there’s really no harm with an unapproved user ‘liking’ a bunch of posts… it’s them posting spam and bad links that the Reg Options process is looking to curb.
The plugin links are:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/mycred/
https://wordpress.org/plugins/invite-anyone/
https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress-like/Again, I agree about the value of focus on these. If you had extra time to fix someone else’s plugin… I would MUCH!! rather have someone update BP Activity Privacy to work with 2.2. Sigh. 🙂
Thanks.
Gave 4.2.5 a quick run through last night… things look great. I could not post or comment as a new (unapproved) user. You already know of the sidebar widget, so only three issues came up, were relatively insignificant, and IMO were likely beyond the scope of your work, and related to the other plugin(s). I pass them along only FYI to you and others.
Using Invite Anyone, the link in the email sent allows the ability to accept the friend request. Since that was from an invite, a ‘friendship’ is assumed.
Using BuddyPress Like, the new (unapproved) user is able to ‘like’ any content that they see. NBD, really.
Using myCRED, the user got activity points before being approved. Again, 3rd party.
The only thing I would add is that I went through the ENTIRE process as a new user a couple of times, in the last go round I went ahead and ‘approved’ the request as an admin. The ‘hey, welcome to the club’ (paraphrasing) email was never delivered. I’ll try that again soon.
Again, these usage issues are not likely in your domain, and are minor stuff, really. I’ll update as needed as I mess with it more.
Thanks again for your work on this. Have a great weekend.
You bet, glad I could help. I’ll pull the file and see what else I can break. 🙂
