Here’s the latest update. Infusionsoft did indeed update their SSL certificate on 9/12/14 and we have all been running into the same difficulties as a result.
I have been talking to all kinds of people at Infusionsoft and trying lots of things that haven’t worked. The lastest advice from their API guy is to go to this forum post (http://community.infusionsoft.com/showthread.php/17697-Tips-PHP-Script-to-search-for-infusionsoft-pem-and-update-it) and use the PHP script to convince the plug-in to acknowledge the SSL certificate. I haven’t tried it yet, but it might be worth a try.

I am experiencing the exact same problem and it also started on 9/12/14, which suggests this is a Infusionsoft and/or WordPress problem, rather than something local to our servers.
I will contact Infusionsoft in the morning. Keep searching everyone!
