In reply to: How to list posts by thumbanil (new plugin?)Razzi,
I was a little scared by Photopress plugin, it seemed to me an overkill for the purpose I have in mind. Unfortunately I have only a little time to work on it. However, after I saw what you have accomplished with it, I promise I’ll give it a try.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: How to list posts by thumbanil (new plugin?)David,
kudos for your PowerPack! I didn’t try it before, I’m relatively new to WP. Let me play around with CG-Inline, it triggered some ideas in my hollow pumpkin. When I add a new painting to the “gallery”, I also need to fill in some basic data (technique, canvas size, prizes). Currently this is a manual task but I’d bet this is something suited for CG-Inline.
I gave a look at your site chait dot net and I think you really did what I was planning to do (btw, impressive site). If you’re interested in my problem, take a look at balleva dot it. I released it even if in beta, so it’s not fully functional, nor carefully tested.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: How to list posts by thumbanil (new plugin?)Thank you people, this is very close to what I was looking for!
Razzi, using the excerpt was very clever and your nice archive page is exactly how I would like to layout my thumbnails. However, you have to type in or copy your img tag into the excerpt. Also, it might not be the right place from a semantic point of view to put this kind of info in the excerpt, although in my application the thumb *is* actually the excerpt. The problem I see is that I cannot teach mom to do this every time she puts a new painting in her catalog. So I would go for something more automagic.
Kafkaesqui gave a neat example of how to extract img info from the post’s custom data.
To insert the img info, I’ll have to think about whether is better to parse the post text for tags or to hack IImageBrowser with an option to fill in the excerpt or even create a custom value on-the-fly.Forum: Requests and Feedback
In reply to: Any official plugin list out there? My post was only a suggestion. I switched over from another CMS recently (Nu****s). WP is fantastically simpler to manage and also easier to skin in my opinion, but I miss that one’s straightforward “Get Plugins” link. So attracting.
Btw, I can’t feel how it tastes ‘separated’ spelled differently. Since I’m not mother tongue, I just stick to the dictionary. Thanks for the compliment however.
Ciao

In reply to: Any official plugin list out there? Thanks Minna, obviously shame on me: as usual, newbies hate search tools.
Having so many lists however is a bit confusing to me but I understand the need to keep release code and development code separated.
Regarding the risk of flood of subcategories, you’re right. In my mind, I had a level-2 category for the plugins subject and a level-3 category for each plugin. Comments, howtos would be level-4. But I don’t know if this is manageable.
As for the announcements category, I would keep them separate from help requests like they do in the newsgroups.
