Hah ha, one less worry. No about those socks.
This one’s getting clicked ‘resolved’ since the solution has been an amalgam of help, yours included.

Hi Bob, thank you so very much for coming onto my thread to help me.
Eye opening! One has be mindful of the Screen Options drop down!
So I checked for each individual post = in Screen Option the box for Excerpt is ticked for all. Even for the posts that aren’t showing the excerpt.
Next I clicked onto All Posts in the Dashboard, there too is a Screen Options drop down, oh hello!
In View Mode, there are two choices, List View and Excerpt View. List View is ticked. My insecurity has reached critical mass, pretty much terrified of switching it to Excerpt View since I was recently bashed by admin for “playing around” on the backend thus apparently causing the excerpts to go where the missing socks in the dryer go. If I tick Excerpt View will I cause a kitten in Bali to die?
Or is List View correct?
