  • I think that what I am asking is fair.

    I don’t.

You’re asking us to “donate” in order to get something for “free” but making no guarantee to those who donate that they’ll even get it.

Just sell it for $5-10 or something, I might be willing to buy it. But I’m not going to send you money on the off chance that enough others do and you decide to release it.

Also, why punish users for using an up to date version of WordPress?

This just doesn’t make any sense :/ I’m probably just going to forget about this plugin, it’s nifty as a back end to-do list but meh

Never got any responses, but just in case anyone googles this in the future or something, I found a plugin called EasyPayPal that looks like it will do just the trick.

By directly contradicting something someone says you are, in every sense of the word, calling them a liar. It’s offensive to do. It’s much more polite to say “I don’t see them” or something. For god’s sake, the page had several hundred lines of code. He couldn’t possibly have looked through the whole thing in that amount of time.

Maybe he didn’t mean to be rude. I’d be surprised though. It sure came across that way. I re-read the conversation that was posted and I got pretty upset with his attitude all over again. He directly contradicted me, and when I asked him not to, he simply did it again, with absolutely no explanation to it. I consider that trolling. And the fact is, he was wrong. The problem wasn’t a WP problem in the end, but there WERE inline styles (obviously, they’re gone now).

Either way, I didn’t break any rules, unless you consider “hell” offensive. That would be a stretch though, I’ve seen much worse in there. Frankly I’m not going to apologize to Sivel. I still think he was out of line, even if my reaction wasn’t ideal, it was reasonable given he had just been very offensive and I didn’t blow up or use any actual profanity.

What was I supposed to say? Oh, you’re right… sorry, I guess my text editor is arbitrarily messing with the code when I hit view source again! Or yeah, you’re right, must be bits of dust shaped like inline styles in my eye blocking my vision of the real code.

I try to be really appreciative when I get genuine help, and I try to offer help to others as often as I can. But nothing he said was helpful. He was just trolling me.

So, I guess I can forget about this channel.

Hmm, anything that can be done here? I would really appreciate an unban or at least an explanation. Didn’t mean to disrespect anyone, just don’t like being disrespected.

I have solved the problem with a LOT of help from various individuals! YAY! Thanks to everyone who offered their time to help me out!!

Ok, so here’s the scoop: the current version of WordPress has a bug in it, a very easy to correct one. The default upload folder (in settings > misc) is set to wp-content, even though it says right on that page that the default is wp-content/uploads. I just changed it to wp-content/uploads and now everything is just peachy!

Simple fix that makes me feel stupid for going through all this, but I’m just glad it’s working!!

P.S. I do know it’s a WP bug, and not something I changed inadvertently, because as part of troubleshooting this I just downloaded a completely fresh copy and installed it, the issue is there as well! Hope the WP devs notice and fix this!

    Thanks again to everyone!

mercime- Thanks a ton for the link!

iridiax- I have a different WordPress site setup on this same host which has no issues uploading images. There’s nothing in my .htaccess except what I was told by WP to put in it for permalinks.

I would really, really like to start posting content. I can’t do that until I have images. Can I please get a suggestion, at the very least if you can’t help me, point me to someone who can (even if it’s for a fee)?

Please, I really need to get this thing going. It’s killing me that I STILL haven’t blogged!

Mosquitone, that does sound like exactly my problem. Even with no plugins or anything, it still happens, which leads me to be very confused, I can’t think of anything that could cause this.

I have not moved my WordPress install away from the directory it was originally installed to like you colvard. And they are not getting uploaded anywhere on my server, I have looked in every possible folder.

I managed to get ahold of my access and error logs. The error log does not log anything at all. The access log shows what I imagine is completely unhelpful, but I’ll post it just in case

I’m getting sick of dealing with this. If you don’t know what’s up with this, maybe you could suggest a reputable company that I can pay to fix it and have done with it???

Thanks for all the help, I do appreciate it.

It’s broken everywhere, the image never gets uploaded in the first place. The problem is not in the display, or permissions… it is that WP fails to upload the image.

Besides that it’s an absolute URL, there is no reason why it wouldn’t appear correctly on previews.

If I do publish a page with an image, here’s what you will see:
    <img src="http://www.whywaitwebs.com/wp-content/uploads/someimage.jpg" alt="Some Image">

    And someimage.jpg won’t exist.

    Thread Starter luminousnerd

    (@luminousnerd)

Nope, no error, it just goes through everything normally, and it will insert into the post and everything like nothing’s wrong. The image is just broken.

I don’t know if you can see this without being logged in?
    http://www.whywaitwebs.com/blog/?p=48&preview=true

But there’s really nothing to look at. It just shows up as a broken image as one might expect.

I would have no idea what to look for in error logs (or where to find them, in fact). However I’m fairly certain nothing’s wrong on the server side, it’s WP that’s failing to upload the image? Anyway I will try to get ahold of those logs and see if I notice anything.

    (@luminousnerd)

Hmm…yeah, I haven’t really changed the theme since I installed it, other than minor changes. And I never had any posts with images.

I did change the permissions, for the uploads folder. Not my .htaccess, but that should have nothing to do with it right?

    Thread Starter luminousnerd

    (@luminousnerd)

What images are there on the home page? There aren’t any images in any of my posts…

    Thread Starter luminousnerd

    (@luminousnerd)

I’m pretty sure it’s not uploading them at all. There’s nothing in that folder, when I look in FTP.

I just disabled every single plugin, but the problem still occurs.

    Thread Starter luminousnerd

    (@luminousnerd)

iridiax FTP works fine. I just can’t upload with the WP interface. And I have plenty of disk space.

Doodlebee: I’ve tried both PNG and JPG. Exported with Photoshop as most of my other images. And I don’t have a functions.php so it’s using the default.
