As a temporary fix I’ve rolled back my version of WooCommerce to 3.5.3. This if the most recent version that works on my site…
Just to add to this, I’ve disabled all the plugins on the site except WooCommerce and removed the WooCommerce folder in my theme and I’m still having the issue.
I switched to a Twenty Nineteen theme and it fixed the problem (when the place order button is clicked the background greys out and a spinner icon appears), this doesn’t happen in my theme.
It appears to be a problem with my theme but I can’t find what it could be…

You can place this order for this product on our test site https://dev.wallpapercentral.co.uk/dummy-product/ checkout out with this product and click the place order button multiple times and we will receive duplicate orders…

Perhaps it’s a bug in the latest version? Would be good to get some help on this issue.
