Additional information …
I found out much of this was the result of a server migration. Both of the sites where we suddenly have lockouts are on the migration list (new IP address). We advised our clients with WP admin rights to wait at least 48 hours for new DNS propagation.
Again this is only our clients etc.

In reply to: [OnePress] Is broken hero text a JS loading problem?@longnguyen this morning this is fixed by turning OFF both ‘
Combine CSS Files‘ and ‘Defer Render-blocking JS‘ in the SiteGround Optimizer plugin.Somewhat of a crude approach to solving the problem.
I would be better off if I understand specifically what JS or CSS was crucial.

In reply to: Trying to locate ‘phantom’ web directoryThe client contacted their host (not GoDaddy), who said that /autodiscover/autodiscover.xml was set up as a default across every site they host. The host also said they could not turn that off just for one site.
So the client is looking for a new host.

In reply to: Trying to locate ‘phantom’ web directory@joyously I take your point. We are under some pressure from the client; I was kind of wired when I wrote that post.
@jnashhawkins That page at TigerTech is a good source. I also came across it yesterday and tried their htaccess fix. Was surprised when it did not work.
As of this morning, we are recommending the client consult with their host tech support. We speculate the previous web developer may have requested a custom solution from that company; something more “authoritative” than from within the WP site.
I’ll return here as more information is available.

In reply to: Trying to locate ‘phantom’ web directoryI tried over-riding this with a 301 redirect but it does not work! Never had that happen before.
@ryanr14 Not only does this resolve my problem, it explains why I kept thinking Stripe’s official documentation was far too complex. Not everyone is building from scratch.
Thank you!
Yes, I’m finally starting to see some stats in the categories. The host is blocking bots so vigorously that it took a while for data to show up.
Thanks again.
NOTE: Some of the JavsScripts I’ve installed, such as the external script required to be sitewide
<script src="https://js.stripe.com/v3/"></script>, the one for the Checkout page, and one for the resume page. Also went ahead and added their suggested CSS.Those at least seemed self-evident.
@wfphil Yes, but no data except in the ‘Top 5 Failed Logins’ section. The others just show blue boxes with text saying “Update blocked IPs” etc.
I recently saw an announcement by our new host that they were doing aggressive server-level blocking of bots. I assumed it was PR. Maybe some truth to it.
@wfgerald Disabling Wordfence let me save the edit!
It added a new whitelisted entry for today (
/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php request.body[actions]).Thank you.
This is apparently inherent to WordPress. Got results by starting with an Editor role instead of Author, and then making modifications with the Members plugin. Same path, different starting point.
Surprised this went a week with no response from the plugin provider.

In reply to: [Neve] How edit Neve default contact form?@xluciano My problem with the form seems different than the problem you have. If you have a GMail account set up, you can use the following plugin. For me, this has solved some problems…
https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-mail-smtp/Well, I was comparing directories from backups with the new server. Noticed that inside wp-content/gallery there were no image files. Used FTP to move them up. Then used your admin tool to rebuild thumbnails. Now the showcase/gallery is working again.
Is there a known conflict with SiteGround or their migration tools?
