Thank you, I’ve played with these a bit but these are not rapid attacks – they happen in bursts, a few at a time. They don’t trip these sensors. I will periodically trawl the logs for 404s and manually block the offenders.
Thanks, that was I was worried about. Unfortunately, they keep coming up with random php filenames. I will avoid the global php block as you suggested.
In my Wordfence->Firewall->Blocking page, I see a list of the blocks under “Current Blocks for <domain>. Each blocked IP shows with an expiration date based on the setting that wfdave showed in his photo. Does that appear on your equivalent page?
From there I select all of the items and then click “Make Permanent” to reject them in the future.
I also see details of each block in Live Traffic -> filtered by Blocked. According to that, I’m getting hammered by IPs in Vietnam although I am sure that these are spoofed addresses.

Thanks, I do have “Immediately lock out invalid usernames” enabled and have bumped up the retry time to 1 month.
I appreciate your taking the other idea to the developers.
Thanks for the prompt reply. I have enabled a lengthy ban period based on Item #2 and will see how that goes.
My blog is single user. Is it possible to place an IP Ban on anyone using _any_ login name other than the correct one? While I can enter some of the common fake usernames in the box, there are infinitely many fake names a bot can try.

In reply to: Image rotation reduxThank you. I tried batch converting the images to PNG in Preview and then uploading to WP and that worked. The files are larger but that’s not a big deal.

Thank you, very much! I must have botched the copy/paste operation. I was just starting to look at the theme code and am glad I didn’t have to try to tweak that as well.

In reply to: Embedding YouTube playlistsI looked a little deeper, found that the extension had an option “Enable support for embedded video”. I _unchecked_ it, reenabled the plugin, and the playlists work while giving me the benefit of the extension.
So many subtle interactions…

In reply to: Embedding YouTube playlistsInteresting:
I checked the link you provided on Firefox on a Linux VM running on my Mac. It worked! And when I tried my own httpv: link on the Linux Firefox, it worked as well.
But, when I try them on Firefox and Safari on the Mac OSX (Mavericks) I get the error message…
====== UPDATE ========
I checked the extensions on my Mac Firefox. I disabled YouTube High Definition 7.8 and everything worked.
The problem is not with WP but with an extension conflict!

In reply to: Embedding YouTube playlistsFrank,
Thank you for the quick reply. Unfortunately, when I visit the blog.futtta.be and click on the YT link, I get “This Video does not exist”. The “Watch this playlist on Youtube” does take me to the appropriate playlist page.
This is the playlist I am trying to embed on my site, (http://www.rettacs.org)
YT’s Embed code is:
<iframe width=”560″ height=”315″ src=”//www.youtube.com/embed/HgNJwg2GISs?list=PLpH1IDQEoE8QWWTnWG5cK4ePCqg9W2608″ frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen></iframe>I tried
httpv://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLpH1IDQEoE8QWWTnWG5cK4ePCqg9W2608
but still get the “This video does not exist” messageForum: Fixing WordPress
