    Is embedding YouTube playlists supported under WordPress 3.8.2 with the Twenty Twelve theme?

    1) If I paste a playlist URL and preview, I get a “Video does not exist” message in the player

    2) I’ve tried pasting the share playlist link provided by YT with similar results

    3) Searches point to older threads where removing ‘PL’ prefix from the list URL is suggested. This does not work when PL is part of the prefix. Some sharing options don’t have the prefix

    4) Copying/pasting the YT embded coding (iframe) does not work

    5) WP YouTube Lyte and its httpv: method does not work

  • I’m WP YouTube Lyte’s developer lrnarasimhan. This should normally work just fine, cfr. e.g. http://blog.futtta.be/2014/02/21/youtube-playlist-muziek-uit-2013-vier/.

    There might be a problem with the link/ playlist you used? This is the lyte-link for the playlist embedded in above post;

    hope this helps,

    Frank,

    Thank you for the quick reply. Unfortunately, when I visit the blog.futtta.be and click on the YT link, I get “This Video does not exist”. The “Watch this playlist on Youtube” does take me to the appropriate playlist page.

    This is the playlist I am trying to embed on my site, (http://www.rettacs.org)

    YT’s Embed code is:
    <iframe width=”560″ height=”315″ src=”//www.youtube.com/embed/HgNJwg2GISs?list=PLpH1IDQEoE8QWWTnWG5cK4ePCqg9W2608″ frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen></iframe>

    I tried
    httpv://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLpH1IDQEoE8QWWTnWG5cK4ePCqg9W2608
    but still get the “This video does not exist” message

    Interesting:

    I checked the link you provided on Firefox on a Linux VM running on my Mac. It worked! And when I tried my own httpv: link on the Linux Firefox, it worked as well.

    But, when I try them on Firefox and Safari on the Mac OSX (Mavericks) I get the error message…

    ====== UPDATE ========

    I checked the extensions on my Mac Firefox. I disabled YouTube High Definition 7.8 and everything worked.

    The problem is not with WP but with an extension conflict!

    Ah, “YouTube High Definition” tries to force to switch a YT vid into HD I suppose and that does not work on playlists? Anyway, great you got it figured out! 🙂

    I looked a little deeper, found that the extension had an option “Enable support for embedded video”. I _unchecked_ it, reenabled the plugin, and the playlists work while giving me the benefit of the extension.

    So many subtle interactions…
