The front-end webpages have mysteriously continued to work for the past 24 hours without any issues. After I cleared my browser cache, I also stopped having issues logging into the Admin interface, and it hasn’t kicked me out. I really don’t know what was causing the problems and why they’ve stopped, but the JetPack plugin definitely bunged up everything when I added it back, and I had to remove it using the backend file manager. The W3 Total Cache plugin also seemed to make everything hang, so that’s gone now too. For the moment, everything seems to be working, but I did have to remove about 5 plugins to get back to functional.

… and now the Event Espresso Calendar stopped loading events on the front end. The blank calendar loads but the little gear spins forever. Errors are:

Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 409 ()
