Use the featured image section for the image and then choose standard/image/gallery/video format to show or hide the text in the summary. I came close to looking for an alternative theme until I finally figured this out! Hope that helps.
I had this problem. It was indeed “Multiple content blocks” and when I checked in Plugins it was deactivated for some reason. I activated it again and the content displayed again.
