Ah! I beg your pardon, changing that line in the parent theme does resolve the error. Where would you suggest I look for the misconfiguration in the child theme? Just to clarify, the line in the child functions.php file is commented out – just an old experiment.
I actually have that function commented out, but the error persists enabling it with that change.
