I did delete the package from my host. And I was able to get the 1.3 reactivated.

I tried again with 1.7.2 through the WP interface. It installed, but the preview of it still showed nothing but the same error code. I did it a couple times just to make sure…

Thanks Again. I had already disabled the comments site-wide. But apparently all my pages had comments enabled on them. This may have defaulted to those settings when I had updated to wpfolio 1.5.2.

Now I still have a little thing at the bottom that says “comments (0)” that I would love to get rid off.

And In my earlier version of wpfolio, I could click through to different posts in a category. Another words I had this category page:
    http://stephangiannini.com/category/artwork/
with four posts on it. When I clicked a post it would take me to a page with the thumbnails and a little arrow at the top that would link to the next post in the category. Which I liked. Now that is gone in 1.5.2?

Anyway in the next day or two I will ftp up 1.6.3 and see what things get solved and what new things crop up. Thanks so much for the nce theme.

Ok. I have resolved the only one post issue. I assume when I upgraded the settings went to a default mode. If I go to dashboard – settings – reading there was a section that said:

Blog pages show at most 1 posts

I changed that number upward and now multiple posts show.

The Nav-bar question still stands. Will an upgrade to Wpfolio 1.6 allow me to control the mix of categories and pages in the Nav-Bar?

    Got it. Thanks.

I am trying to log in to my godaddy hosted wordpress.org site at this address :

    http://stephangiannini.com/wp-login.php

which does not bring up a login page, only an “address not found” page. Is this the right address for an .Org site? I used too access my login page as a browser bookmark so so I have not looked at the address in a long time.
The only other possibility is that the site was down for awhile and then put back up by the host. Would this have changed the address?

The theme is WPfolio by eyebeam.

    Thanks

I updated to 2.8.4 and I was able to re-activate the stats with a second api key tied to a seondary wordpress.com account that I don’t use, that I was eventually directed to. The actual WP.com account api key I maintain would not activate the updated Stats plug-in. It just sent me in a circle. I guess i created an account a couple years ago to just acvtivate the stats plugin, although I can not imagine why I would have used a different one for askismet and stats …?

    Buddha trance,

Thanks very much! I got it up and running. Still took a few hours but I guess that is the learning process.

I’ll preface this with reminding everyone that I have minimal experience. Thanks for your patience.

A root folder or root directory is just the generic term for the folder where my entire website exsists, correct?

My wordpress files already exsist in that website folder ( in a file named wordpress). They are already live on the web, but my home or index page needs to be changed so that the wordpress front page is comes up when my basic address is typed in.

Another words currently my wpblog frontpage comes up when I go:

    http://stephangiannini.com/wordpress

and I want it to come up when I go to:

    http://stephangiannini.com/

So I don’t think I need to move the bulk of the wordpress core files anywhere, right?

I’m gleaning that if I just copy the index.php and .htaccess file to
where my earlier websites’ index.html file now exists that is what needs to happen?
So I would have two index.php and .htaccess files, one set outside my wordpress folder and one within? Or do I eliminate the old ones?

So I am thinking below are the instructions that I need to follow from “Giving WordPress Its Own Directory” instructions

7 Copy the index.php and .htaccess files from the WordPress directory into the root directory of your site (Blog address).

What does the ” (blog address)” tell you to do here? And don’t my files already exist within the directory?

8Open your root directory’s index.php file in a text editor

9 Change the following and save the file. Change the line that says:
    require(‘./wp-blog-header.php’);
to the following, using your directory name for the WordPress core files:
    require(‘./wordpress/wp-blog-header.php’);

Here what does “using your directory name for the worpress core files” mean?

    Thanks again
