I am running into the same issue, though we do have an SSL certificate for our site. I am able to run a Google Pagespeed score outside of this plugin so it is a bit strange.
Update: Issue resolved itself somehow…I think logging out and back into WordPress is what resolved it.

@otto42 Updating to the latest version of WordPress appears to have corrected the issue. Though, it also might have been a temporary issue that only happened yesterday, it is hard to say for sure. Clearing cookies and cache unfortunately did not help.
