@jphollis: You can set access level at “Edit post” page, at top right corner stay a s2M tab. No conditionals required.
There is several hacks to do before to change LMS plugin, and some include shortcodes, but too difficult to explain, plus depends of exactly 3th party plugin… I can do for you, if you want, please find me at http://krumch.com/contacts/.
@bamme, check if you set main WP URLs well. This is in the Settings->General page.

At end of the form usually stay a message about the *, so if you didn’t see it, it may be there, but hidden by CSS settings. Open the HTML code and if it is there, fix your CSS.

I am not sure I understand well your case… BP and s2M works well together. But what means “group” for you? Maybe this plugin will helps. And maybe not, needs more info, please…
