    It worked!
Thank you SO much for your hard work in resolving this issue. I also appreciate your feedback on the accessibility of the accordian.
    Have an awesome day!

    Hello again!
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but when I went to disable the schema in Accordian, it was already set to “no.”
I am so sorry that this is becoming such a complex fix, I was hoping that it would be simple!

    Hey there,
Thank you again for your prompt responses!
I tried deactivating and reactivating all other plugins as you noted above, and none of them changed the issue that was occurring. I have the site in a staging environment and I also changed the theme, and the issue was still happening, so it doesn’t seem to be related to Genesis or the Child Theme.
Is there any other info I can provide to help try to recreate the bug on your end?
    Thanks,

    Hey,
Thank you again for your hard work! I really appreciate you helping me solve this issue.

When I initially performed the plugin conflict test, I kept Accordians active, and then deactivated a single plugin, and then checked to see if anything changed. Before deactivating another plugin, I would reactivate the one I had just tested. So, since every other plugin was active alongside Footnotes and Accordians, it seemed to me that I was able to isolate the conflict to these two plugins. If I am correct, it seems I already accomplished this. I am happy to take the time to test anything else however!

This website was built in 2015, on the Genesis Framework, and a custom child theme. I don’t know if that is helpful at all, but I figured I’d throw it out there.

    Hey there,
I so appreciate your help and attention to this matter. I did not write any of the code, and simply offered to help the ED of the foundation get his site updated after a long lapse without maintenance of the site. The original developer is no longer available to help unfortunately. When I opened up the footnotes settings it looks like double parentheses might be part of the problem. I copied the text below from the settings page:

When delimiters with pointy brackets are used, the diverging escapement schemas will be unified before footnotes are processed.

    Footnote start tag short code:
    ((
    Footnote end tag short code:
    ))
WARNING: Although widespread industry standard, the double parentheses are problematic because they may occur in scripts embedded in the content and be mistaken as a short code.

    Check for balanced shortcodes:
    Yes
In the presence of a lone start tag shortcode, a warning displays below the post title.
If the start tag short code is ‘((’ or ‘(((’, it will not be reported as unbalanced if the following string contains braces hinting that it is a script.

Honestly, I don’t even know how to access the footnotes themselves, as this is a plugin I have never used before. With a little more guidance, I might be able to provide more information.
    Thanks,

We are not using a premium version of Accordian. The version of Accordian is 2.2.29 and Footnotes is 2.7.0
The site had not been updated for a long time unfortunately. But I was able to get all other updates without any issues whatsoever. The only reason that I feel that these two are incompatible is because I deactivated all plugins one by one, and the issue with the Accordian went away when I deactivated the Footnotes plugin. It sounds like this plugin can have issues with information that is directed toward the footer, not sure if that’s helpful or not.
Please let me know if you need anymore information.
