well i havent tried what you mentioned as i have tried putting twent fourteen theme and it worked on that but not on my purposed theme the theme was custom tailored by a developer long time ago. :/

Alva i have a main domain
abc.com then i created a subdomain named “wordpress.abc.com” now i want to change the name
“wordpress.abc.com”
to
“download.abc.com”
so i wen to my public_html and where the folder name was wordpress i changed it to download but when i go to download.abc.com it gives error so i want help in that. That hpow can i change my “wordpress.abc.com” to
“download.abc.com”
