Hello, @maybellyne
Requested the validation fix, and got this email today telling me that the validation failed ( https://pasteboard.co/UWT3kqtEtw1s.png ). This is what I got when I clicked on the email link ( https://pasteboard.co/9O8tmfxfsHtn.png ).
I picked a few pages at random and did a live URL test on them: ( https://pasteboard.co/atBkVRpMyd7B.png ) ( https://pasteboard.co/NhItJssnwPDA.png ), ( https://pasteboard.co/HE4pAVxU07AB.png ) ( https://pasteboard.co/3zBrH0id9uhG.png ), and ( https://pasteboard.co/pjiLHRxzGc09.png ) ( https://pasteboard.co/xcXqCV2Wsnf6.png ).
Out of 395 pages, only one is indexed – the home page ( https://pasteboard.co/vpUPSsRezHUt.png).
The sitemap still says 0 discovered pages ( https://pasteboard.co/8MM7OI38Ml5T.png ). Should I upload the post sitemap? That’s the one that I had before and that I removed, to replace with the sitemap index – the post sitemap had immediately detected 373 pages when I submitted it, the number of posts I had at the time ( https://pasteboard.co/w3XYLmzTlWHh.png ).
Appreciate your time and assistance.
OK – did that, and requested a new validation fix ( https://pasteboard.co/2fnkHn1k1pGY.png )
Will let you know how it goes.
Thanks for your time.
Thanks, @maybellyne
Disable all the feeds in “Disable unwanted content formats”, correct?
Appreciate your time and help.
Thanks, @maybellyne
Should I validate the fix now, or do I need to wait until Google Search Console discovers the site’s pages and goes from 0 to however many there are on the site?
Appreciate your time and help.
Hello, @maybellyne
Been a few days, and doing random URL inspections, I don’t see the
noindexthing anymore. Hope it stays that way.Question: I did what you said and removed the post sitemap ( https://pasteboard.co/QMk460mTt9hf.png ), and submitted in its place the sitemap_index.xml ( https://pasteboard.co/QMk460mTt9hf.png ). However, three days later, the sitemap_index.xml still shows 0 “Discovered Pages”. By contrast, the post sitemap I removed had immediately shown 373 discovered pages when I submitted it – which was the number of posts on the site at the time I submitted it.
Do I validate the fix now, or hold off on that? And what about the sitemap_index.xml and 0 Discovered Pages?
Thanks again for your time and all the help.
Thanks. I removed the post sitemap, and submitted the sitemap_index.xml ( https://pasteboard.co/QMk460mTt9hf.png ). Btw, is it supposed to show “0” under “Discovered pages”?
The sitemap I removed had 373 Discovered pages ( https://pasteboard.co/w3XYLmzTlWHh.png ), and this one has 0, so just want to make sure I didn’t make a mistake.
I appreciate the help.
Hello, @maybellyne and thank you for getting back to me.
At the time I posted this two days ago, this was what Google Console live URL inspection showed: https://pasteboard.co/ILr4GJ79l2bY.png
Today, though, when I ran it again, it showed this: https://pasteboard.co/myi53X1SpAiy.png
Just a few minutes later, though, I ran another URL live inspection, and the earlier screen with the ‘noindex’ reappeared once again: https://pasteboard.co/Pqe92fsSSJP3.png
Most of the websites pages are not indexed ( https://pasteboard.co/rwAPbyz9WSXJ.png ) as a result. Whenever I resubmit the sitemap ( https://pasteboard.co/w3XYLmzTlWHh.png ) and ask Google to crawl it again, or even submit individual pages for indexing, I eventually get a message a few days later telling me that the validation failed.
I don’t seem to have the same problem on Bing – it seems that most of my posts there are indexed.
Would appreciate any help you can offer, explained in the simplest way possible – I’m not a web developer or somebody with any particular expertise. Just a random writer learning as I go along and trying to see if I can DIY a solution 🙂
