    Thanks for your replay and suggested solutions, @sukafia. The second option of hiding the task list worked for me, but I’m glad to hear you guys are working on a fix for the bug.

    Well, it seems I have this problem back again now! A setup widget that won’t go away, and no WC dashboard widget. This time, ‘pretending’ to complete the setup wizard made no difference, and I can’t get the WC widget back.

    Two more plugin upgrades today, and both went off without a hitch, so that’s good news. I’ll feel even better if I can get upgrades to major plugins like Woocommerce or Jetpack to do the same, but so far it’s looking good.

    So, two more updates to run today, and they both completed without any issues. This could just be a coincidence, so I’d need to run a few more updates successfully to be certain that the issue has been resolved. So far, the only changes I made were to the memory limits.

    Thanks. I’ll check out those tips tomorrow, but I don’t want to make too many changes at once. Now that I’ve make a couple, I’d like to see what happens the next time I run an update.

    So, wp-config.php has no memory limit setting, so I added the following line:

    define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '256M');

    I can’t edit php.ini directly, but cPanel does give me a user form where I can make the adjustment if necessary. I’m just not clear about where I need to do both, or whether the wp-config setting is sufficient.

    I doubt the memory limit is as high as 256M, but I can check wp-config.php at least. I don’t think I have access to php.ini on my hosting platform. It would also be something that shouldn’t have changed in anyway in the last month or so.

    I’ve just discovered that they should be 755, and upon checking, they are correct on my site. So I guess that’s one potential problem we can rule out now.

    I haven’t, but it’s probably a good suggestion to do so, even though nothing should have changed. I guess it would still qualify as a hosting issue, though! However, I would expect a 100% failure rate if it was a permissions issue, whereas it’s more like 70%. For the record, what should the permissions be? 644?

    @nifty123 – well, what do you know? It worked for me too! I couldn’t skip all the steps, and was forced to fill in a store address, despite being online-only. After fumbling my way through all the steps, and having to repeat a couple, I’ve finally got my familiar stats and reviews panels back on my Dashboard.

    @glicit Pretty much exactly my problem. It’s probable that one of the recent updates to either WordPress or Woocommerce has broken something, so we’ll just have to hope they can fix it soon.

    I’ve just updated to Woocommerce 5.2.2, and the problem still remains. There also appears to be an issue with the Screen Options panel, as the Jetpack Stats option is there, but unlabelled.

    I also have an issue where Woocommerce insists that I haven’t finished the setup (taxes – don’t apply, address – online only), despite running successfully for the last 4 years now. This issue appears to be coincidental with the widget disappearing, so I’m assuming they’re related.

    I’ll grab a copy of the requested information and post it here shortly.

    This seems to be the stock answer given here these days. My theme is already Storefront, and disabling the rest of my plugins would effectively disable my store and site. Not very practical! And how would the use (or not) of a front-end theme have any bearing on the behaviour of the back-end admin site, which is not theme-able anyway?

    Still, I guess I have no option but to try it…
