It is the default category.
The permalink wasn’t the problem but looking into it somewhat lead me to the solution!
I had uploaded a reorder posts widget.
I went in and set it back to automatic sorting and the posts reappeared again.
After that, I was able to set it back to manual sorting and the category is still functioning correctly.
