    Thanks for your answer.

    In free WordPress provided by WordPress.com, plugins can only be used in widget area. For self-hosted WordPress, can I use the plugins anywhere in my website ?

    – What I mean is; Can I apply the functions of plugin in post / pages / header / footer instead of dedicated widget area only ? (For example, in WordPress.com, “Contact”, the one with Google Maps plugin can only work in dedicated widget area.)

    Thanks for giving me a heads up especially on the “freemium” aspect of plugins and the licensing aspect of themes. I’ll read more on those.
