In reply to: [Caldera Forms - More Than Contact Forms] Calculation field formatI am conducting tests using Caldera forms in order to determine it’s viability with our company’s needs. I have 2 simple questions.
1. Our initial interest in Caldera Forms is in using it to create various scientific and engineering calculators for our subscribers. In my testing I am not using a submit button. Will the form still store information in the database? My concern is needlessly exponentially filling our database with needless information.
2. I have developed an initial calculator form computing resistance values from resistor color codes. The problem I have encountered is that the decimal separator is not working. I have it set to a comma but instead of displaying 1 million as 1,000,000 the form displays 1000000. This is an issue for us. Am I doing something wrong?Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: [Customizr] Footer widgets will not display after updateHello Nikeo,
I have one question, I have downloaded the cusotmizr.3.4.31.zip file (the update has not yet propagated). How do I install it/update my theme?
Hello Menaka S.
Sorry, I have not been able to reply back in sometime. I was able to resolve the cache problem. I had multiple issues: CDN service had a long expiration date on the cached files, plugin conflicts, etc.
I could use your insight on a new problem with Customizr. I received an automated update to Customizr 3.4.30 this afternoon (I wish I could turn auto updates off but have not found a way to do it). Here is the new problem:
Prior to the update all the footer widgets on my web-site were displayed correctly: footer area one, two, & three. After the new update this afternoon, the footer widgets are not displayed even though they are shown as being installed under the Widget menu. When I view my front page via WordPress, Customizer diplays the following error message: This block is visible for admin users only. The footer has no widgets. Add widgets to the footer now or dismiss this notice. Customizr is not displaying the footer widgets even though it displays them in the Widget menu. In addition, even though the error message indicates you can click on the dismiss this notice link, said link does nothing when you click on it. I even went as far as removing the Widgets and re-installing them. The problem still remains. I did the usual tests by turning off plugins to see if a plugin is causing a conflict but the problem still remains. I am using plugins from JetPack and JetPack had an update about 3 days ago. It appears there is a bug in the new Customizr update.

In reply to: [Comet Cache] Comet Cache does not permit deletion from plugins!Dear Raam Dev,
First, I want to thank you for helpful responses. I have updated my sites PHP to 5.6. For reasons unknown, my web hosting service labels 5.6 as a beta version on their website. Their information is incorrect. I had been using the default version installed by them which was 5.2. So again, thanks for the heads up. I also want to apologize for the negative comments in my earlier responses. The last 2 weeks have been crazy for me ever since the major updates to WordPress, JetPack, & Wordfence. Up until two days ago, I had been fighting a major caching problem (which did not occur before 2 weeks ago) with my front/home page still displaying the 2 week old version dependent upon where the site was viewed. Wordfence Falcon (what I had been using along with JetPack’s Photon, which I now no are not compatible) provides a cache purge option but it does not seem to work. Falcon is fast but I am using Sitelock’s CDN. Wordfence also has no provision for programming in the CDN cname. With the help of Sitelock’s technical staff, the cache purge problem has been resolved.
Unfortunately the traditionally recommended cache plugins, W3 and WP Super Cache, have not updated for compatibility with WordPress 4.6.1. Since Sunday I had been conducting tests using WP Super Cache which some WordPress users indicated would work with 4.6.1. It seemed to work for me up to yesterday. It’s performance was not as fast as Falcon, my web performance grades went from an A to a C (not good). There was a major upgrade to MS Windows 10 that I ran yesterday. Since that upgrade, I have had encountered some problems with WP Super Cache.
Will Comet Cache compatible with a CDN? Can you program in the CNAME (I think I read that the PRO version will)? Will it minify? If I test the free version out will I see a significant speed increase? Is it compatible with Wordfence (with Falcon and all Wordfence caching OFF and with Photon OFF)? I have no problem with paying for the PRO version but I would want to test it out first. I really am looking for a reliable high performance caching plugin.
Thanks again for your time.
Menaka,
I have one major concern. I am worried that if I change the theme to TwentySixteen that I will lose my web-site design configurations in Customizr when I switch back to Customizr. Or will the design & settings be saved. I am not using any child themes and I have not modified the theme.

In reply to: [Comet Cache] Comet Cache does not permit deletion from plugins! My web host service is Bluehost. Currently, I am using the server’s master php.ini configuration file. According to the error message displayed by Comet Cache the PHP version is PHP v5.2.17.
Dear wflandon,
Sorry for the delay in responding it has been a tough week. Bluehost provided zero information. It was as if I was talking to untrained personnel. They just pointed fingers at Wordfence, Customizr, Jetpack, Time Warner, me. I am not satisfied with their technical support. It is basically zero support. One of them told me I needed to upgrade my Bluehost plan.
I do have access to the WordPress admin Dashboard. Any who, I did reset my WordPress permalinks and this restored the permalinks and removed the 404 errors. I did this on Monday.
Unfortunately I am still stuck with the nightmare that started this whole odyssey. My front page when viewed from different locations (tools.pingdom.com) is only updated to the most recent posts when viewed from Dallas Texas and Melbourne Australia. The tests for New York City, San Jose CA, and Stockholm Sweden still show the old front page view from September 3rd. I even have Wordfence caching set to off.
Tonight, I disabled all of the plugins and then performed the pingdom tests. I even took the added precaution of clearing browser cache, performing dns cache flush, set the most recent post to a draft and then rescheduled for publishing 10 minutes into the future, and added several additional ping services into my web/WordPress settings in addition to pingdom.com. Next I performed the aforementioned pingdom tests with the previously mentioned results.
Finally, I re-activated all of the plugins and performed another set of pingdom tests and obtained the same front page results. I also performed a Fetch as Google Test with the Render option. The Public User front page view is correct. The googlebot view is almost correct: it has the correct 4 recent posts; however it has the 2 left sidebar widgets in the September erd configuration with old Helen Keller Quote of the Day on top and the Follow US on Facebook on the bottom with no images just the MakeTrix name.
It’s as if there is a rogue hidden cache file of the old front page. I have caching turned off in Wordfence. I was going to load the WP Super Cache plugin for it appears to perform a more thorough cache flushing while also permitting non-caching of the front page (Wordfence always caches the front page at least when caching is on). However, WP Super Cache has not been updated to the latest version of WordPress. Maybe it would still perform correctly.
I am using Sitelock’s CDN service. I logged onto Sitelock this afternoon to use it’s tools. All is well with the CDN service.
I wanted to make note of 1 other item. Using the Customizr theme (an update to Customizr became available today & I installed it), I have not created a separate static web front page and a separate blog home page. I have been using the default settings for the front page. In other words, I have not created a front page. I have been using Customizr’s default setup. Is this a problem? I am more than willing to create a static website front page and a separate blog home page.
I really appreciate your input. Do you think I should still delete & reinstall Wordfence? 1 other observation. When I view my dashboard & the Wordfence emailed reports it always indicates 0 Top 10 IPs Blocked, 0 Top 10 Countries Blocked, 0 Top 10 Failed Logins, & 0 Recently Blocked Attacks. However, Akismet (via Jetpack) does indicate blocked spam attacks. Is there a problem with Wordfence or are the 0 indicators due to my not having programmed them in. I thought these settings were automatically handled by Wordfence.
Hello Menaka,
I thought of 1 other observation. After disabling all of the plugins, I then tested the website (after the pingdom.com tests) using Google Crawls Fetch & Render (Fetch as Google test). This test showed the correct front page for the actual public viewer/user view (correct recent posts, Follow us On Facebook with NYC image on left sidebar top with Einstein Quote of the Day on bottom). The googlebot view was close (correct recent posts) except it had the left sidebar widgets switched (Quote of the Day on top with the September 3rd Helen Keller Quote and Follow Us on Facebook on bottom with no images just Maketrix name). Since I have been updating this note here on the forum I even conducted another Google Fetch & Render and received the same results.
Hello Menaka,
Customizr had a new update today and I installed this new update. Next, I disabled all of the plugins. I then tested my web-site on tools.pingdom.com. The Dallas, Texas test showed a front page with the correct recent posts but showed the old September 3rd version of the left sidebar widgets (Helen Keller quote on top with Follow Us on Facebook on the bottom. The Melbourne Australia test showed the correct version of the front page (both recent posts & left sidebar widgets). The New York City, San Jose CA, and Stockholm Sweden tests all showed the incorrect front page from September 3rd. So we have ruled out the plugins because I had all of them disabled. Prior to these tests I had even taken the extra precaution of clearing the web-site cache, dns flush, & browser flush. I even reset the Groundbreaking Software… post to a draft and then scheduled it for publishing 10 minutes into the future. In addition, I added a bunch of ping services just in case I had something weird going on regarding distribution from my ISP.
I want to note that at the time you were viewing maketrix.co I was online making multiple changes & tests while talking to my wife who was at the public library testing the public front page display.
I appreciate your input. Everyone else has punted on this matter.
Hello,
Menaka thank you for responding. I am having a tough time troubleshooting this problem. I was able to fix the 404 error problem. My permalinks data was corrupted. My unresolved problem is that the public does not see the correct updated version of my home/front page. Some will see the “Groudbreaking Software for Painting Masterpieces on a Budget”. Some see the nearly week old version of the home page with the Hockey Players image + “The Man in the Arena…”. It is hard to troubleshoot this problem since I cannot reproduce at my home office PC. I sent my wife to the public library just now, from there she saw the latest post Cartoon Dog+”Groundbreaking Software….” However, from the library she sees the old layout of the home page, older widget image displays on the left sidebar and 2 rows of recent posts boxes in the center. The interesting thing is that everyone sees the correct layouts of all the posts and widgets on each of the posts.I ran a Google Fetch with Render (Google Webmaster Tools) and the render of the home page is the week old version with “The Man in the Arena…” as the most recent posts along with the older widget image (Helen Keller MakeTrix Quote of the Day).
The new widget layout in the left sidebar should be Follow Us on Facebook with New York City night scene of the Statue of LIberty on top with an Albert Einstein Quote of the Day below it.
From what I can tell, my home/front page is not updating for the outside world. I have run all the clear cache routines: clear browser cache, flush dns cache via ipconfig, clear cache within Wordfence. Nothing seems to help. Until yesterday, I could not get the “Groundbreaking software…” to appear publicly (as of 2:00 EST). At 1:00PM EST I reset said post as a draft in WordPress and then scheduled it to post 5 minutes into the future.
I am using WordPress 4.6.1 (the most recent) and Wordfence (with cache off) version 6.1.17. My blog updating problems began (and the 404 permalinks problem) began right after I udpated WordPress &WordFence last Thursday.
When I ran the Google Fetch & Render I saw the following code in the HTTP Header report:
7 Cache-Control: max-age=821952, publicI also ran a performance test from either feed the bot or red bot (don’t remember) and received the following error message:
This page does not appear to support if modified since.
Tool did not find if modified since indicators.
Guideline states: ‘Make sure that your web server correctly supports the If-Modified-Since HTTP header.’Any assistance you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
I also need to mention that I am using the Customizr theme.
In addition the Bluehost tech support guy (who told me he was more into design) said that the problem was that my Time Warner router’s cache needed to be cleared. I shut down my computer and then turned the wifi router off for 10 minutes and then rebooted everything. Still have the mess.
I was on the phone for 45 minutes with tech support at Bluehost. The guy clearly did not know what was going on. He made some changes (which he did not describe to me) and at the end he told me that my front page was displaying the new post (as shown through the preview mode in Customizr). Prior to calling them, all was well with the web site. Following your response, I found that some of the links are yielding a 404 error. I am really irritated with this whole thing. WordPress did notify me that there is another update to WordPress and Wordfence. Should I go ahead and install these. How do I recover from this mess? Please help?
