I’m not sure what you mean, if you removed the list from your index.php template I don’t see why it should still be there.
Unless you have your links and categories still there because I think they generate<--and
- -->
tags before and after.

In reply to: using wordpress to manage other pagesI copied the index.php code into notepad, and saved it as about.php. (I did the same for whatever other subpages I wanted).
Then I removed the unwanted code, and put in whatever information I wanted.
Link from the main page and voila!

I was on the right track… I was using the_date with the string inside rather the the_time.

What’s worrying me, is the fact that the grey background (of the post) cuts off 1/4 of the way before the image. I would like to have the grey background go thru to the bottom of the picture as well.
This is what happens if I use the clearer div.
