Your second suggestion is exactly what I was looking for.
I have added
.post-thumbnail img { padding-top: 40px; }and now I think it looks good. Please take a look here
Do you agree that in this case padding or margin are doing both the job…to push the thumbnail down?

thank you very much. Everything cool. How are you doing? I am really happy to see that you are still here giving your amazing support! Thank you for that.
Here are some questions which are coming up when I try to edit images:
1. Is it really necessary that the featured image has a minimum size of 200 x 200 px?
2. I am currently regenerating all my thumbnails. As far as understand this is a process where all images are resized. Is that correct? Are all the images resized to the original size now?
3. I have uploaded a featured image with size 200 x 200 px which fits perfect in the category as you can see here
But when you click on my blog page here the featured image (yellow second row) is distorted.
Which size of the featured image would be the perfect size to fit in category page and index page?
I have even some more question which I will keep for later.

thank you very much for your very helpful advise.
I was now able to position the google under the blog excerpt as you can see here.
Google seems to deliver only 5 ads. As you can see there are no ads under the additional blog excerpts, but there is white space visible for the small google adds.
I would like to have the small ad block below every excerpt.
Why are ony 5 ad blocks visible now? I don’t know. Maybe Google is restricting the number of ad blocks on one page.
Somehow I need some CSS for positioning the ad blocks.
