Just wanted to say I was looking for that functionality too. Would make the plugin even better, since I think it’s a definitely necessary function when using it on a frontpage of a responsive WP theme (which I am, you guessed right).

It looks like the problem is the image. Could it be you haven’t put the custom field “thumbnail” to your latest posts?
take a look at http://konstruktors.com/blog/wordpress/322-tabbed-widgets-plugin-for-wordpress/
then, modify the wp-content/plugins/tabbed-widgets/js/uitabs.css
it’s easy to find, it’s marked with /* accordion */
