Well, I figured out my problem — it had to do with how I was listing the WP URI within my cpanel. I have an add-on domain, and it how I had it listed was causing the problem. Everything is working properly now.

Unfortunately, I don’t have a solution for you — I just wanted to say that I have a similar problem, and I’m not sure if our troubles are related.
I’ve tried the Post-Levels, ViewLevels, Category Levels, Registered-Only plugins, and none of them work properly. For the first three, the hidden posts won’t show for ANYONE, and for Registered-Only, it doesn’t restrict anyone. Hello Dolly doesn’t appear to work, either.
