Hi, I hope I’m not too late to help! I just went through this myself so…
The first step is to decide between wordpress.com and wordpress.org. The .com is free but more limited. For example it won’t take ads! It’s probably easier though. There your blog will be riding on WP’s domain and they pretty much just stick the title of your blog onto their own URL.
If you decide to go .org you then need your own website. BluHost @ http://www.bluhost.com is one they recommend highly and the one I went with. There you’ll click “Fantastico” from where you can quickly “install” each wordpress.org blog you desire (up to 50). Your URL will be the one I suggest you get through them. You do this by clicking “domain check” or “domain registration”. It’s $10, pretty much the going rate. The blog will be put into a file you name and the final blog URL looks like this: http://thedomain nameyouregisteredwiththem/thenameofthefileyougavethemforthebloginstall.
