Got it working. Have to choose Rememeber Me on login.
I figured it out. I had my main website as https and my site url as http. It was trying to load insecure content on a secure website. MAking the site url and the website url match fixed it. I was in the process of fixing wpengine SSL certs.
I am not using any role customization on my site. Anything else I can look for?
