Hold that thought!
Thanks if anyone was going to help me, but I’ve worked out what I was looking at yesterday – it was the Microsoft WebMatrix program that the WebPI installed. This seems to run PHP when it’s running.
If anyone has any words of wisdom to impart upon me about how WebMatrix, WordPress, mySQL and PHP are interconnected (and how WMAMP relates to the this) then that would still be much appreciated.
Cheers,
Ann
Also, I’m confused by the different options offered for local install on the Installation Instructions page (http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress#Installing_WordPress_on_your_own_Computer):
– First it suggests installing standalone applications like ‘Instant WordPress’, but then gives instructions for an “Easy 5 Minute WordPress Installation on Windows”. Am I right that I don’t have to do both?
– I installed Instant WordPress because it looks convenient and portable, but its pages on migration suggest it will be difficult to put online and I might have to pay!! (http://www.instantwp.com/unleashed/). Has anyone tried this??
