Thank you for the additional info.I think all you need to do is click the “toolbar toggle” button. It is a default WordPress button, whose only function is to expand/collapse the additional button rows:

WP Edit should not alter any characters. I’ve never encountered anything like what you are describing while developing/using WP Edit.
It may be something in their browser causing the crazy characters. You can test this by deactivating WP Edit; and asking them to check again. If they still see the strange characters; then it’s definitely not WP Edit.

1) Take note of your current permalink structure.
2) Change it to something different; and save.
3) Change it back to what you had; and save again.This will “flush” the rewrite rules; which is usually necessary after creating/altering custom post types.

Good point.
Well, you can use FTP (or your hosts cPanel) to access your files on your server. You would need to manually replace the theme folder. It may be a bit involved for a newb; but your theme vendor should be able to help you with this task.
