They were in some of the “wp-includes” files that I’d edited.
All in working order now.

Disabling my plugins did remove one one of the line breaks; I then fixed up and reinstated that particular file. The parsing error on the feeds page now says line 5 rather than 6.
The problem is probably just line breaks at the end of files (below the closing php tag, so they are outputted).
I checked, and the root index.php file is clean. Do you know of any other files (other than that file and plugin files) that are called before output begins?
