Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Hack Attempt Leaves my Dashboard Blank and InaccessibleHoly Moly I fixed it up! Incase anyone else gets this white screen of death the problem is apparently a lot simpler than I thought. First I reverted all of my theme options in the sql database to say “twentyten” so that I would be using the default theme. That got my blog back up for visitors, but my dashboard was still blank and white. So I deleted first the “facebook-like-button” because it showed some errors in the error log. That didn’t fix it… so I deleted the “all-in-one-seo-pack” and TA-DA! Everything works. Plugins and themes killed my site, but hopefully this helps someone else.

In reply to: Hack Attempt Leaves my Dashboard Blank and InaccessibleI do have an error log file from my blog. It’s showing many database errors for the day my site got hacked. But none of it makes any sense to me. It reads something like this:
[26-Dec-2010 05:02:13] WordPress database error MySQL server has gone away for query SELECT option_value FROM myblog_options WHERE option_name = 'aiosp_post_title_format' LIMIT 1 made by require, require_once, require_once, require_once, require_once, include_once, get_option [26-Dec-2010 05:04:32] WordPress database error MySQL server has gone away for query SELECT myblog_posts.* FROM myblog_posts WHERE 1=1 AND myblog_posts.post_name = 'cam-jpg' AND myblog_posts.post_type = 'post' ORDER BY myblog_posts.post_date DESC made by require, wp, WP->main, WP->query_posts, WP_Query->query, WP_Query->get_posts [26-Dec-2010 05:04:41] WordPress database error MySQL server has gone away for query SELECT post_id FROM myblog_postmeta, myblog_posts WHERE ID = post_id AND meta_key = '_wp_old_slug' AND meta_value='cam-jpg' made by require, require_once, do_action, call_user_func_array, wp_old_slug_redirect [26-Dec-2010 05:04:41] WordPress database error MySQL server has gone away for query SELECT ID FROM myblog_posts WHERE post_name LIKE 'cam-jpg%' AND post_status = 'publish' made by require, require_once, do_action, call_user_func_array, redirect_canonical, redirect_guess_404_permalinkNo clue what this cam-jpg thing is. Does it help in any way? It goes on like that for pages and pages in the log.
And just to be clear, I did NOT make any changes to my website that day… sooo this would all be weird hacker stuff going on. This issue is causing more of a headache than I expected!Forum: Fixing WordPress

I have even tried simply importing my ‘posts’ table into a fresh WordPress database (all squeaky clean and fresh) but I just get an error when I try to do that.
What error?
phpMyAdmin simply fails when I try to update a certain portion of my sql (my posts table). This probably makes sense because I don’t really know how sql works and it was just one creative fails out of many.
But when I point my new installation of WordPress to my full sql restore database (the database went up just fine) but when I head to my blog address it just gives me a blank screen. I don’t know where to look for information or error codes or anything. phpMyAdmin seems to accept the database just fine, WordPress just won’t display it for me. I’m so stuck and confused!

In reply to: Hack Attempt Leaves my Dashboard Blank and InaccessibleI use the Multisite plugin… But I already took my blog off the server so I just have my backup sql file. Maybe Multisite messed things up. I will see what I can do with what’s left of my old FTP directory.

In reply to: Hack Attempt Leaves my Dashboard Blank and InaccessibleWhat plugin did you install? Maybe it’s stemming from a buggy plugin… hmm…

In reply to: Hack Attempt Leaves my Dashboard Blank and InaccessibleI’ve narrowed the problem down to my database. I switched hosting companies and uploaded a fresh install of WordPress. Then I uploaded my old database onto the new server. When I direct my new WordPress installation to this database I get a blank screen.
I have even tried simply importing my ‘posts’ table into a fresh WordPress database (all squeaky clean and fresh) but I just get an error when I try to do that.
Any clue what I should be looking for here? I can’t use my WordPress at all. I thought if I at least switched hosting I’d be able to import my old posts. I don’t want to lose my old data. Please HELP!

In reply to: Nothing happens on installI’ve got exact same problem. Here’s what’s displayed on the screen for me: “戼㸯㰊㹢慆慴牥潲㱲戯㨾†慃汬琠湵敤楦敮畦据楴湯›獩慟浤湩⤨椠戼⼾潨敭瀯獯汴灡瀯扵楬彣瑨汭洯浥敢獲戯潬⽧灷愭浤湩椯据畬敤⽳潣浭湥桰㱰戯‾湯氠湩戼ㄾ〱⼼㹢戼㸯”
Thing is, I’ve already got a WordPress blog installed on my website. I was planning on adding a second one in a new directory but now I’m just plain stuck. I don’t have any PHP errors on my error log page either. Help?!
