In reply to: Bug in WP 2.2? code not showingThanks for responding, Whooami!
You’re quite right, of course, but I am a web developer working on contract so my authority is very limited. My client is a university and version 2.2 is what they installed 18 months ago, when they decided to use WordPress for content management. I was only brought onboard in April. They are reluctant to upgrade and I obviously can’t order them to do so.
I just have to play the hand that was dealt to me.
Any suggestions would be most welcome!

In reply to: dOUBLE SPACINGI’ve had the same problem. Sometimes the font formatting comes over from MS Word and shows in the post. Is there as way to clean it all out?

In reply to: How can I apply thems to archive/category pagesThanks loads.
When I re-activate my “archive.php” (no s) file, the formatting goes away,
but at the VERY bottom, under the oldest post is the index.

In reply to: How can I apply thems to archive/category pagesThe end goal is to have a “page” (I don’t know how else to say it) that allows a visitor to see the headline/title of each post for a particular month within a specific category.

In reply to: How can I apply thems to archive/category pagesThanks Moshu. Mods like you are a big part of what maes WP what it is and I appreciate the help.
I wasn’t involved in this project in the beginning, so I’m just trying to put functionality in place wherever I can.
We have posts that are sorted by category. I was asked to create a resource that would list the posts in any particular category, sorted by year, then by month, then by date.
I followed the instructions here:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Creating_an_Archive_IndexI must have done something wrong, because the category now had an archive nav, which is what I wanted, but it still showed all the posts in their entirety (which I didn’t want, and it deleted the theme.

In reply to: How can I apply thems to archive/category pagesMoshu, thanks for responding!
I temporarily resolved the issue by disabling the “archive.php” component. It was negating the theme on the category pages but not on the posts.

I was trying to create an archive page for each category.
Obviously I’ll be grateful for any help you can provide. Thanks in advance.

In reply to: Tell me what you honestly think. My best advice? Too wide and WAY too long. A website should be in pages, with a navigation scheme so that people can find what they are seeking without scrolling through a long page. And PLEASE, dump the animations. You’re using a blog format to do a website. Square peg – round hole. Hope this is helpful. Feel free to email me if you need help.

In reply to: I need suggestions about posting my feed on a web pageThanks much, Clicknathan! I tried that resource and it looked good but won’t do quite what I need. I have four authors I work with. Each of them writes his or her specific blog in wordpress. I want to be able to do the following:
1) limit the headline to 50 characters
2) limit the description to 100 characters
3) link the url to a “read more” text linkNumber 2 is easy to do in feedinformer, but #s 1 and 3 have me stumped. Any suggestions?
