I decided to go around the problem. Installed Deans FCKeditor instead. Seems to have the same functionality.
yes, that is the culprit. I’ve combed thru the support site and apparently many people have it working and a significant number have not gotten it to work. The site suggests several things to try if it doesn’t appear and none of those things have worked for me.
I guess the broader question is what do you do when this happens? Are there de-bugging techniques that will reveal the cause of the malfunction? Just need a clue as to why it’s not cooperating.

I also apologize for my harsh reply. Lots of built up frustration that just needed a little push to boil over.
So, getting back to it – does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? I have already ruled out suicide 😉
