I get the same issue as well. I cleared my Cache on the WordPress side and had my host clear the cache there too, but I was not able to resolve the issue without disabling the Jetpack plugin.
Thanks for the suggestion, I already had discovered the alternate “extended” importer and I’m almost done. That extended importer does more than the built-in one I think, which makes this issue fortunate! I’m getting a better deal using the alternate!
