I found the solution.
In the header.php file I removed:
<meta name=”viewport” content=”width=device-width, initial-scale=1, maximum-scale=1″>
And the full version now shows up on the phones. If my designer had the mobile version in mind when he told me what to build, we could have made the mobile version work but it was too late at this point.
