Thank you. I just ended up putting one link in the [device][/device] tags and the other in the [notdevice][/notdevice] tags.

In a somewhat related issue, do you know how to implement a similar fix in the built-in WP menus?

Yeah, the current brookstractor.com is shitty, but the new, un-launched, WordPress built one is fairly slick.

I wanted to avoid linking directly to the .net site because I don’t want a visitor to have to click twice to get to the equipment listing; I want the link to take you to the proper listing style (desktop or mobile).

Is changing an entire menu necessary when it’s just the one link? I use this plugin (http://wordpress.org/support/plugin/responsive-select-menu) to alter the menu for smaller browser sizes and I’m checking to see if I could set the menu item’s URL to be different when this menu activates, as a possible workaround.

I used a plugin called Types (http://wordpress.org/plugins/types/) to create the custom post type (Account Manager) and add custom fields (zip, town, county). I used another plugin (http://bestwebsoft.com/plugin/custom-search-plugin/) to enable custom searches for the newly created post types. Finally I used a custom fields search plugin (http://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-custom-fields-search/) to get a search box/widget.

Getting everything to work together required some trial and error. I had to experiment with the custom fields (single line, multi-line, numeric, etc.) and how I added hundreds of zips, towns, and counties to them. And then what custom searches/queries to use (“words in”, “phrase in”, “equals”) that would return a result.

I created a second custom post type (Customer Support Advisors) for site visitors to also search for by zip, town, or county. I was panicking when I set everything up the same but searches wouldn’t return anything. Finally remembered to put a check in the box next to CSA on the custom searches settings.

Here is a gallery of screenshots.

Thank you for your help. I finally got it working! My only issues now are ones of styling the results page for the search and other theme-related things.

    Thanks again!

Thanks. I will check these out.

In the meanwhile, what are there any thoughts on creating a page or post that has the account manager’s name as the title, then the post itself has a table (found a plugin for that) with Zip, County, and Town columns. If a user searches the site it should return the page/post as a result. So that’s kind of close.

Do you think a page or a post is more appropriate for this?
