In reply to: XML export doesn’t seem to contain post contentI would try that, but unfortunately anything I need would need to be WordPress 3.5-RC4 compatible as that is what the creaking old site is using and upgrading isn’t an option for now (that’s partially why the site move is happening).

Error establishing a database connection
This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at cust-mysql-123-03. This could mean your host’s database server is down.Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
Are you sure that the database server is running?
If you’re unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host. If you still need help you can always visit the WordPress Support Forums.Forum: Fixing WordPress

Both phpMyAdmin and the wordpress repair interface claim it’s ok now though.
Take me through your initial thing again.
Rename the plugins folder to plugins.hold to disable them
Then rename your current theme – how does having a child theme complicate this?

In reply to: Footer problems, probably simple to solveCheers, it is that but when I remove that it causes the whole thing to crash until I put it back in. There is some sort of nefarious encoded code going on (google Padd Solutions and look for other wordpress forum results).
They’re scumbags basically, I have ditched it and am trying other themes…

In reply to: Installing on a subdomain, wp-admin/install.php issuesI created an A record ‘blog’ for the domain in the DNS settings that points to the IP address I was given when I signed up for the hosting and I have a folder within public_html (one down from root, which only has that and ‘logfiles’) called ‘blog’ to which I have uploaded the WP files.
Does that answer the question (I’m not terribly sure if it does…)?
