The problem — apparently — was that the code generated by NextGen pointed to the same gallery in both cases and for some reason, if I changed it in one place, it changed it in the other. So both used id-1478 and I have no idea where that id came from or how to change it.

I was able to get it to work by using short codes. With the short codes I could tell it which gallery I wanted where.
Still there’s a bug there somewhere.
