In reply to: [Wired Impact Volunteer Management] shortcode to view signups feature requestThanks for the incredibly helpful feedback @danseoane. While neither of these features are available right now, we do track every feature request that comes in. I’ll note both of these suggestions so we have them the next time we map out what improvements we’re going to make.
Please let us know if any other ideas come up. We’d love to hear them!

In reply to: [Wired Impact Volunteer Management] I’m Curious about these features….Thanks a ton for the response and details Brian.
I think I just found a fairly elegant solution in the ‘Better Notifications for WP’ plug-in. It allows me to send out a notification to any number of roles whenever a post is made in ‘Wired Impact Volunteer Management.
Thanks a ton for letting us know the approach you went with. I could see this being helpful for others who may need similar functionality.
I wonder if it would be workable to simply post all opportunities, regardless of type, by creation date to a blogroll style page. The actual target date of ‘One-Time’ Ops could still be displayed in the output. It wouldn’t be perfect but certainly better than having Ops divided by type.
This is definitely helpful feedback. I’m going to note it internally so we can refer back to it as we roadmap future improvements for the plugin.
Thank you again for the thoughtful input. I’m going to mark this as resolved, but don’t hesitate to let us know if any other questions come up.

In reply to: [Wired Impact Volunteer Management] I’m Curious about these features….These are really great questions. I’ll address them one at a time.
I’m curious why the two different kinds of volunteer opportunities can’t be displayed on the same page.
There might be a few different ways to read this question, but I think you’re asking why we can’t simply list all of the volunteer opportunities together as one group. The biggest issue has to do with ordering. One-time volunteer opportunities can be listed intuitively by the date and time that the opportunity occurs. For flexible opportunities, those don’t have set dates and times, so it’s hard to know where to list them when bunched together with the one-time opportunities. We could potentially build a system that allows them all to be ordered in a customized way, but that gets very tedious if a lot of volunteer opportunities exist.
We’re always open to feedback, so if you have any ideas please let us know.
Why it’s not possible to automatically send out an e-mail notification to our membership when new volunteer opportunities are posted.
It sounds like you’re looking for something more similar to an email marketing tool like Mailchimp, Constant Contact or Campaign Monitor. For many of those tools, they do allow you to set up automated RSS email campaigns when new content is published. On your site, an RSS feed is being generated at http://www.pacg.ca/feed/?post_type=volunteer_opp with each new volunteer opportunity. In case you’d like to look at a tool like this, here’s an idea of how it works in Mailchimp. The approach would vary by tool, but that should give you an idea.
Since categories are a pretty fundamental feature of WordPress, it seems like adding that frequently requested feature would be fairly easy.
We totally agree that this would be a valuable feature and it’s definitely on our radar. We track feature requests internally and I’ll make sure to add another vote for this one.
Let us know if you have any other questions. We’re happy to help out.
Since we haven’t heard from you in a little bit I’m going to mark this as resolved. Don’t hesitate to reach out if any questions come up in the future.

In reply to: [Wired Impact Volunteer Management] Question about reporting? Thanks for reaching out @alchemusceo. There isn’t a feature in the plugin solely focused on reporting, but each volunteer does have their own profile that shows all the opportunities they’ve helped out with along with the dates of each. You can see what this looks like in this screenshot. If you’re looking for more robust reporting, this probably isn’t going to be the best fit for you.
I hope that’s helpful. As always, let us know if you have any other questions.

Thanks for reaching out @nbakker01. Just to clarify, it sounds like you want to list the number of open spots for a single volunteer opportunity on your website in a place different from that opportunity’s page or the list of opportunities. Is that right?
If that’s correct, there isn’t a simple way within the plugin to accomplish that. Are you familiar with HTML and PHP coding? If so, take a look at the
get_open_volunteer_spots()andget_number_rsvps()methods within the WI_Volunteer_Management_Opportunity class at \plugins\wired-impact-volunteer-management\includes\class-opportunity.php. It won’t be the easiest, but using those as a starting point would allow you to code your own approach within a separate plugin or your theme.Otherwise, let me know if I misunderstood what you were trying to accomplish.

In reply to: [Nonprofit Board Management] Where do board members view their resourcesI’m happy to help @massiveempire. Board members can find the list of members, events, committees and resources in the “Board Mgmt” menu within the WordPress admin. This menu should display just like you see “Dashboard” or any other top-level WordPress admin menu. If this menu isn’t displaying within the admin, then it’s possible another plugin or the theme has modified the board management plugin’s functionality.
Let me know if that doesn’t answer your question so I can better help out. Have a great day.

In reply to: [Nonprofit Board Management] Gravatar not showingThanks for the kind thoughts about the plugin Ernie. The benefits you mentioned about using the built-in WordPress users system are exactly why we chose that route.
In regards to working with hooks in WordPress, you could always consider hiring a WordPress developer using a service like Fiverr or Upwork. There are plenty of good ones on those marketplaces that should be able to help.
I’m going to mark this resolved, but don’t hesitate to reach out if any other questions come up. Take care.
