My blog posts all show up as I scroll down, but if I click on the title of one of them, it leads back to that “subscribe” page.

ok! I deactivated all plugins, including Jetpack, and switched to twenty twelve.

Here is an example. I wrote a blog post entitled “Cream Cheese, Diapers and Expensive Cookies.” Originally, the blog post had some kind of title like http://www.jvalenciaphoto./com/postid=406 or something like that. But NOW, when I look at the “inspect element” info, this is what I see. And it tells me that somehow I have permanently changed internal references to point back to the /subscribe page??

OK, I deactivated that plug in. But all of my internal links are still currently messed up. When I click on the title of ANY blog post, or ANY internal link that should lead to a blog post, it instead leads to the /subscribe page. That’s because somehow, for some reason, all of the blog post titles got reset to subscribe.

I know it’s probably frustrating to deal with such ignorance! 🙂 I apologize and I do appreciate your help VERY much.

WPyogi, I apologize for confusion. I’m such a newbie, I don’t know all the terminology. I bought space & domain name on GoDaddy, then I used WordPress through that site. So I guess it’s a WordPress.org “usage”. But the website that I have through GoDaddy — the one where I use WordPress to manage the site – is a .com site.

Does that help? Does that mean I’m a WordPress.org user in general?

esmi, when I do a “live preview” of Twenty Eleven, this problem still happens.

    (@jenvalencia)

My website is a .com site, though.

    (@jenvalencia)

WPyogi, yes! Yes! That is the one. However, I didn’t deliberately choose to have it start showing up. It just DID, and in trying to use it, I completely messed up my site without meaning to.

    I do have JetPack installed.
Can you tell me how to get rid of an unwanted plugin?

thanks so much for your time.

    My theme is based on Twenty Eleven with some minor cosmetic changes. When I go into my dashboard, it shows up on the left panel at the very bottom. My left side reads;

    Home
    Updates
    Jetpack
    Posts Media
    Links
    Comments
    Feedback
    Contacts
    Appearance
    Plug Ins
    Users
    Tools
    Settings
    Gallery
    Follow Plugin

The box with the words “Follow Plugin” in it has the little orange asterisk in front of the words “Follow Plugin.”

When I got to the “settings” section of the Follow Plug in, I see this cryptic statement:
In order to get a functional Follow floating button you must set this to “Subscribe” For installing instructions visit http://www.mywp.in and go to ReadMe page. The Permalink to the Subscribe page must be “your blog url address/subscribe”

That link they give does not work – it does not exist.

Even so, I tried to follow the instructions of creating a /subscribe page as they stated further down in the instructions, but when I did that, ALL of my internal links were suddenly switched to the /subscribe title.

It’s weird, and I’m starting to wonder if it’s a rogue or malware that somehow got into my WordPress? But I KNOW for sure I didn’t download anything weird. I have only been writing blog posts!

If you have any help or info, I would greatly appreciate it!

Even if you can’t tell me why my links got changed, is there a way to manually change them all back?

Over the past few days, I had noticed a little brown floating box that would automatically pop up by itself in the lower right hand corner of my blog. It said “Follow” in orange letters and had an orange asterisk sign. When people clicked this little “follow” box, however, it took them to a 404 Error page.

I had not done anything new or special to my blog to make this floating follow box appear, and I assumed that it was a WordPress update that had automatically started happening. However, I wanted to make sure that the link worked! That was why I clicked on the “Follow PLugin” link on the left side of my dashboard and followed the instructions there.

I’m SO new to WordPress that I don’t even know if this “Follow Plugin” is something that automatically came with Twenty Eleven updates, or if it somehow installed itself? Do other people even use this?

If I could do a screen shot, I would show it to you.

If this is a weird, rogue thing, how can I get rid of it? Is there an easy way to delete plugins? When I click on “settings” from within this Follow Plugin menu, it tells me that the author’s site is a certain, site, but when I click there it errors out — that site does not exist. That tells me something is definitely weird here.

no, they are not. They just get that 404 error code apparently and then never get updates.

However, if they sign up to “follow” my blog from within the blog – a widget I have on the side right panel – THAT works.

The one that errors out and never works is the special WordPress box that floats up all by itself, without my planning or say-so, in the lower right corner of the blog. That brown box with orange letters and the “Follow” on it.

I’m not sure how or what to configure on my blog to make that little pop up box work!

    (@jenvalencia)

it worked perfectly, thanks SO much!

Thanks, WPyogi! I’ll try it out & will also use backticks in the future. 🙂
