I’m running into the same problem. I thought an upgrade may be in order, but that made no difference. I’m on the 1.10.9-standard. I have a widget on the front page that takes no less than 7 seconds to load (with 3 items in it). The month view calendar page is even worse. We have about 30-40 events each month. Nothing that I would consider excessive.

I’ve seen complaints all over the forums about this, but there doesn’t seem to be a consensus about what is causing it. Some are saying that it’s happening due to excessive spidering by the search engines. I’ve made some adjustments to eliminate that possibility but it hasn’t had any effect at all. Even if that was the case, it would be hit and miss. Spiders aren’t on the site 24 hours a day. The performance issues I’m seeing are consistent and constant. Other posts seemed to point to high numbers of events in the calendar being a culprit. Again.. I don’t think 30 or 40 events is excessive.

I watched TOP to see what my server was doing while clicking through the site and did notice it using a lot of resources. Sometimes it just hung and stopped “going anywhere”. I had to return to the homepage and come back into the calendar to get it moving again. Due to this… I can’t help thinking that there are some really inefficient AJAX calls going on. Lending to that thought is the fact that the AJAX spinner is spinning for 7 seconds while I’m waiting for the data to fill the widget. Same experience on the calendar page. Is this what you are seeing, perkypixel?

I may have just found the answer. According to the manual upgrade instructions, you need to remove the uninstall.php before doing the upgrade to ensure that the data is not removed (and of course, backup, backup, backup always). I just ran into this as well and loosing all my data is not an option. Is there some way to upgrade this without a complete uninstall/reinstall?

The spinning arrow icon shows up once I submit a form, but then nothing happens.

This is most probably due to a conflict between plugins/theme. Try deactivating all other plugins and switching to the default theme.

I have disabled all plugins and themes and still the issue persists. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled the plugin and created an entirely new form. I can also verify that this problem is cross-browser.

Wow guys, I’m sorry but this is a real mess. I performed the fix as described above and while that did solve the problems I was having with past events, I’ve realized that NONE of the event dates are correct since the upgrade. Also, for some reason, a few posts from other categories have shown up in the calendar! How is that even possible? I’m afraid I have no choice but to roll back to 2.0.11. It’s really unfortunate because I just spent about 3 hours working on a problem that I will never be compensated for. 🙁 (Before I’m flamed, let me preface this by saying that I have paid for Pro – not just the open source version.)

    Hi there,
I was noticing a ton of this in my log files today as well. It actually caused us a bit of a problem when some bots swept through and were doing a scrape of the site (don’t people just rock?). Have you had a chance to patch this or do I need to go in and do it manually?

    Thanks!
