Thanks for copying and pasting the information which I had already read on your website. Unfortunately (a) the plugin does not do what I want and (b) I could not get it to work as described.

It seems to require users to move around the site so it can detect the session ID mismatch. The page i am protecting is a live video feed, so users will only stay on that page.

I did find a plugin that does do exactly as I want – as soon as user B tries to log in, he receives a message “a user with those details is already logged in”. This prevents link sharing – or at least makes it pointless.

    Best regards

Thanks for the reply. A lot of similar plugins work like this in that they need the two members to be moving about the site before they get blocked. As the page i want to protect is a live video, they won’t be doing that. Once they login they will stay there.

I found an “old” plugin (hasn’t been updated for a couple of years) but does exactly what I want it to. As soon as a second user tries to use the same credentials they get a message “a user is already logged in with these credentials”. Unless the first person logs out, they can’t log in. Genius.

I thin it would have worked with AR Member, but sadly by the time i had found it I had moved on to another plugin ( and several attempts to achieve the login blocking i wanted).

Thanks for the help. I may come back this way again some day.

Hi, thanks for your quick reply.

The page I want to protect has a live video. So when people go to it they won’t be moving from one page to another. They will stay on the one page.

I need it to be that User A logs in and when User B tries to log in with the same credentials he is blocked at that point. He too will stay on the one page with the live video. Or referred to a page that says “simultaneous logins are not permitted”.

Is it possible to block a second login with the same credentials as soon as User B tries to log in?

    Thank you.

Hi Wayne, Thanks for the very quick reply. I can confirm we have applied both updates (Post Expirator and Postie Addon) and everything appears to be functioning as expected.
    Thanks for your help!

OK. Good news and Bad news…

The bad news is, it is the plugin.

The good news is, Version 4.9.6 works as expected/previously. All other items such as WP version, Theme version etc are latest versions. Didn’t have time to experiment with the versions in between to see where the problem occurred. Just went back far enough to be fairly sure it might work.

I have a handy little plugin called WP Rollback that lets you pick any version of a plugin to install. I saw there had been a lot of “traffic” here over the past few days.

As soon as I went back to Version 4.9.6. all was good – except it now wants me to update to the latest version. NOPE!! Updating is always a recipe for disaster. Thankfully I’m still on Windows XP, but I might move to Vista next year??? lol.

Hi Calsots, you’re a life saver. It also works if I change it to “right”.

Amazing how that one word can stop the whole site working the way I want it to. I have important info in the side bar which is now visible.

    Your input is much appreciated.
    Thank you.
