The googling continues, and it seems like this is a feature thats pretty hard-coded into wordpress. I think im going to work around this, and have a table of contents page serve as the homepage. This way, you’ll have to click on the link, and then can navigate the way I’d like.
After a ton of googling, this articulates my problem a little better (still without an answer)
