In reply to: [Custom Shortcode Sidebars] [Plugin: Custom Shortcode Sidebars] IntriguingWhen using this plugin to insert widgets into your post or pages, it uses the WordPress core function dynamic_sidebars().
It will echo as said in that functions description.
There is an option in the admin panel when adding a new shortcode sidebar to have some html before and after the widget area is echoed out. If you wish to have a div or any other text or elements placed there.
In regards to if it occupies the whole width of the post or page, it will purely depend on the styling of your theme.
Any existing sidebars will not be replaced.
You can put as many shortcode sidebars into one past as you’d like.
When I get a bit more time to perfect this plugin or, perhaps, expand his functionality, I’ll do as you suggested and add some better documentation and some screen shots.
Tevya,
Just an FYI, I have finally taken the time to fix the issues that have been brought up my many of my plugin users. Version 1.5 is out with a complete fix. Thanks again addressing this issue,
Jason GrimSeveral users have reported this issue. I’ve been too busy with clients to get around to finishing version 2.0 which will include a fix among other major features.
Thank you very much for using my plugin. I did write the code to make sure it adds the write lines of code to the wp-config file. I have been getting several questions about the .htaccess file not being created correctly on some servers. I have not had much time to look into it a solution to this problem.
The define they suggested for you to add to get the generated htaccess information is the only work around I am aware of. That define is to be removed after the install is completed as recommended in the wordpress docs, this is why my plugin doesn’t add it to the config file.
I will be working on a new version when I get some down time from my clients and workload.
Thanks again for your time and sorry for your troubles.
I have the same issue. If this plugin worked it would have saved me a lot of trouble… sigh
