Thank you for your reply. I though that the caption behavior were introduced by the theme.
For my parent’s sites, I’ve chosen our second option: display a combination of images using column and groups.

I’ve tried to add the previous/next post links in the editor on both “Single Posts” and “Single Posts (no separators)” without success. The links doesn’t appear.
The only thing I did different from what @kjellr suggested is that I’ve put the two components inside a line.
