Plugin conflict: “Redirection” plugin.
A big thank you to the people at Vaultpress, the realtime backup WordPress plugin, who went beyond the call of duty – on a Saturday – to identify this plugin conflict, which had nothing to do with their own plugin, and get the site back up and running. Respect.

Restoring the backup didn’t work. Restoring a full site backup also hasn’t worked.
Now I realise, even if I ignore tags and categories but edit any text in the product’s main description and press update then I cannot view the product (from backend editor or fronted store). The product will redirect to the homepage.
Do you have any suggestions? I’m beginning to think I need to wipe the slate clean, do a new WordPress install and build the site again?

However, I have now restored the database from a previous backup and all is working again. I shall play safe and manually edit each product to add a product category and delete a product tag.

In reply to: [Promotion Slider] Updated plugin and lost itIn case anybody else landed on this thread, the problem was due to upgrading the Promotion Slider and the solution was to add the width and height dimensions to the hardcoding shortcut in the main index php.
