1. There are literally thousands of merchants using InstantSearch+ for free, and there are thousands who pay for additional features/capacity.
2. You actually stepped on a regression bug that entered last week’s release in the uninstall process. Thanks to your report, it is fixed now, so the current release uninstall works well.
3. The emails that you received are not SPAM, but rather industry standard for follow up with customers who are trying out the product.
You could have contacted our support at support@instantsearchplus.com and would have gotten immediate assistance per other reviews below.
In any case, your report helped fix a regression bug.

About your question, we allow woocommerce merchants to show or hide out of stock items that we constantly track. By default, and from our experience, in most situations you would be better off hiding out of stock items in woocommerce search – the reason is mainly about customer dissatisfaction finding products that they cannot purchase.

This plugin changes your robots.txt File which can cause ranking loss!
Our plugin only adds an additional sitemap to the robots.txt the point search engines to your most popular search queries results page. No ranking loss can be caused by that.
User should check their robots.txt File in order to avoid any surpise.
It is hard to get rid of – needed to mail google in order to change this.Merchants can easily disable the additional sitemap addition from the Sync tab of our dashboard.

The issue was resolved yesterday by our support. It seems like Tobias has been seeing a cached version of their robots.txt file which is beyond the InstantSearch+ scope.
Just to summarize, our plugin added an additional sitemap to the robots.txt resource of the WordPress server. This additional sitemap contains the most popular search queries results page to help boost SEO. This is a feature that can be turned off by site owners in our dashboard.
