Ok, this is a weird one. I have the latest version of wordpress, and yet I still get this error. After doing a little bit of research, I changed the categories to cats(same arguments), which is supposed to be deprecated and it works now. It seems like I fixed it by walking backwards, maybe later I will have a better fix, but for now that seems to work.
